B.J. Goodloe letter, 1858.

Autograph letter, signed, from B.J. Goodloe to an unknown recipient, dated Suggsville, Alabama, May 9, 1858. Goodloe complains that a recently purchased slave named Jim the carpenter has developed leg and foot problems, and demands that the addressee, presumably the person from whom Jim was purchased, compensate him by returning the nine hundred dollar purchase price. Goodloe offers to transport Jim to Montgomery, to a Mr. Brown.
